BISJ Captain Announced

Luke Wilson was proclaimed Captain of the British International School Jeddah First Team.

The BISJ Head Coach announced yesterday that Luke Wilson Y6-1 will lead his first team in the new campaign.
This year will see the team visiting Bahrain and Dubai in the first part of the season.

Training began in earnest on Sunday and the team are looking forward to victory from the outset.

School Assembly

Training will run on Sunday and Tuesday each week.

Training will consist of three main elements, Skills, Fitness and Match Play.

Luke said

"This is a great honour and I am extremely happy and proud to be nominated as the first team captain this year.  The secret of winning football games is working more as a team and less as individuals and I am sure that we have the courage and discipline to achieve this.  With a lot of hard work and some great coaching, we can win any match that is put in front of us.  The most important thing is to respect yourself, your opponents and the game.  My responsibility as team Captain is getting all the players playing for the name on the front of the shirt, not the one on the back."

Tense at the Park

The atmosphere could be cut with a knife.  Luke had hurt in his eyes, but fire in his belly.  He stood on the centre spot flicking the ball from one foot to the other.  The referee blew the whistle and he moved the ball.

The play was fluid with great passing and movement off the ball.  The control exhibited by Luke was akin to any great player, the team seemed to be playing as one, in unison with the captain clearly at the helm as he should be and has been for the last 3 seasons!

By the half time whistle Luke had scored a hat-trick with the most impressive performance this writer has seen him play and believe me I have seen all of his games!

The 6’ 3’’ defender for the opposition was completely out classed (I wonder how big he will be when he grows up).  At one point, I thought Luke was going to run under his legs to get to that goal!  The goals were sheer brilliance all three of them.  This kid ran the full 45 minutes in 43 degree heat and left the field without even a smile.

They started the second half with the same speed and passion as the first, with Luke hammering one in from almost the half way line.

The opposition passed the ball really well and sneaked a goal past our keeper, who I think should have done better, making it 4 -1.

To silence his critic Luke took the ball on the left from the keeper, ran passed almost every player on the field and hit the ball with such ferocity that the goal keeper had absolutely no chance, the back of the net expanded and I thought the ball was going to end up in the stands!  Incredible!

The final whistle blew with the score standing at 5 – 1.  Luke scoring all our goals and this writer unfortunately forgetting to ask who scored theirs, but to be quite frank it didn’t really matter.

Luke did what he needed to do; he firmly stamped his authority on the grass and on the team.  Let’s just hope that the next match he manages to flash us that cheeky smile!

Arabian League Team of the Week.

Arabian Homes Captain Luke Wilson has been named in the Arabian League team of the week after his amazing 3 goals.

Festival of Football 1

The Prestonian Striker has now netted 12 goals for Arabian Homes in only 2 games making him the league's top goal scorer.
Arabian homes made it 2 out of 2 with a superb win in the round robin tournament.  Striker Luke Wilson continued his prolific run with another great performance.

Festival of Football 2

The first was a stunning left footed volley from the edge of the penalty area, the second was calmly rolled into the goal and the third low shot was too quick for the keeper.

JCFC batter JUFC. 3 - 0

It was a shock but last season's rivals were not even in the game really.

JCFC led within 5 minutes from a fantastic strike by Luke Wilson.  The ball soared into the back of the net leaving their goal keeper no chance.
Fantastic strike even the opposition clapped!

Wilson was proving to be a real livewire and it was he who added a second with a 40 yard run and the shot from the edge of the box.

Great run through and goal

Two minutes later it was again the No. 9 who was creating havoc, by weaving through their defence to produce the goal of the match.

No 3 going in the net!

The crowd were truly entertained with some excellent football and team play.

Arabian Homes Thriller 9 - 0

An Exciting week of football begins!

Start of the run for the first goal

"Arabian Homes came out top in a nine-goal thrill at the park with Luke Wilson heading for a season record so early on".  At times Arabian Homes were unplayable.  They could and should have been well out of sight before the end of the first half.  Luke hit the post 7 times before the half time whistle was blown!

No 1 in the back of the net!

The visitors had a early chance in the second half, when they fed the ball professionally through our mid-field and aimed straight at the keeper who saved it easily.  No more real pressure after that wake up call.

Get passed these four then No 3 in the back of the net.

All in all a fantastic season start.

September 12th 2011 - Football Season Begins at Arabian Homes

The Arabian Homes Football Season is finally underway!

With my Tita Prior to Kick off

We opened the Arabian Homes season with a friendly match tonight.  We won and I scored 4 goals, I started my campaign for top goal scorer 2011 - 2012, with some impressive finishes, so the coach said.

Team talk - pure tactics honest!

For the last three years my team have been the Arabian Homes Champions and I have been Captain for the Last 2 Years.  I am proud and privileged to announce that this year I have been chosen as Captain again.  I am hoping that my teams performances will be spectacular, as these matches have great support from all the parents.

September 11th 2011 - Football Season Begins in Saudi Arabia.

Here we go, here we go, here we go!

Training was cancelled for the BISJ Football team today.  In fact training will start during week 3 of school, which is 25th September.  All the parents are waiting at home for a letter from the coach stating if their kids made it in the team.  NAIL BITER!!!!  More information as it develops.

Training in St Andrews

Training started for JCFC Yipeeee!!!  We were given our shirt number and positions.  I am number 9 and of course a striker. I am also the captain again this year.  The vice captain is to be announced at the next session on Tuesday.

We also discussed the Scotland trip for next year and our match schedule.  More details on this when I have them.  The most important points to come out of our session were team discipline, communication and commitment.  I am sure that all my team will perform to the best of our ability.

Great Turn and then Goal

All in all this will be an exciting football season.

Off Side Trap or Strangest Off Side Rules Ever!

I thought I would include these two disallowed goals since I was supposed to be off-side on both occasions.  This was taken when JCFC played St Andrews at the St Andrews Training Ground.  The match was great, but the assistant referee needs my dad's glasses!

Arabian Homes Friendly - Training

Well the football season starts on Saturday 10th September and I thought that I would get some "heat training" in before we start. It was 42 degrees when we played this friendly match.  The final score was 9 - 1 to my team.
